We are thrilled to share that “Robin: Ang Nakakulong na Ibon”, written by Neil Omar Gamos and illustrated by Rhea Kristine Elnar, has been named to the Honor List of Parangal Para sa mga Mahuhusay na Librong Pambata — a recognition under the prestigious Severino Reyes Medal 2025.
This honor not only celebrates the powerful storytelling and poignant visuals of “Robin,” but also affirms the book’s contribution to the rich landscape of Filipino children’s literature. Through the metaphor of a caged bird, Robin inspires young readers to reflect on themes of freedom, self-expression, and hope — values that resonate deeply in today’s world.
The official roster of winners and honor recipients was proudly announced by the Severino Reyes Medal 2025 Selection Committee, composed of literary and library leaders from the National Library of the Philippines (NLP), National Book Development Board (NBDB), Philippine Librarians Association Inc. (PLAI), Philippine Association of School Librarians Inc. (PASLI), and Association of Librarians in the Public Sector (ALPS).

The award ceremony will take place on May 21, 2025, at the National Library of the Philippines, a fitting venue to honor voices that shape the imagination of our nation’s youth.
Organized by IBBY-Philippines in collaboration with its esteemed partners, the Severino Reyes Medal stands as a beacon for excellence in Filipino children’s and young adult literature. Named after the legendary storyteller Severino Reyes, creator of Mga Kuwento ni Lola Basyang, the medal seeks to elevate outstanding works that spark wonder, empathy, and creativity among young Filipino readers.
Congratulations again to Neil Omar Gamos and Rhea Kristine Elnar! Robin continues to soar — and we are proud to fly with it.
